President Barack Obama announced on Friday his plan to appoint a new cybersecurity official to coordinate federal efforts to defend vital government and private computer systems from the onslaught of cyberattacks by computer hackers. The administration also plans to create a new military cybercommand that would be able to conduct offensive operations on enemy computers as well as defensive warfare, though those details were not unveiled.
